Kickoff meeting for the preparation of "Carbon Emission Calculation Standard for Steel Structure Buildings"
On January 6, 2023, the China Steel Structure Association organized a kickoff meeting for the preparation of the group standard "Carbon Emission Calculation Standard for Steel Structure Buildings". This standard was jointly prepared by China Steel Structure Association, China Construction Science and Engineering Group Co., Ltd., China Construction Steel Structure Engineering Co., Ltd., Beijing University of Science and Technology, China Construction Standards Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., Classic Group, Science and Technology and Industrialization Development Center of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Hunan Construction Investment Group Co., Ltd., China Twenty Second Metallurgical Group Co., Ltd., and other units.
The meeting was chaired by Li Qingwei, Secretary General of the Association and Chief Editor of Standards, Chen Zhenming, Chief Engineer of CSCEC Steel Structure Engineering Co., Ltd., Ma Xinbo, Deputy Director of the Construction Technology Department of the Science and Industrialization Development Center of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Zhang Yu, Associate
Professor of Beijing University of Science and Technology, Wang Zhe, Director of the Institute of Steel Structure Construction Engineering of the China Academy of Architectural Standards Design and Research, Zhang Qi, Chief Technical Engineer of Classic Group More than 30 members of the preparation team including Zhou Xiongliang, Vice President of Zhejiang Southeast Grid Design Institute, attended the meeting.
At the kick-off meeting, Professor Zhang Xiangyong, Design Director of CSCEC Technology and Engineering Group, presented a report on "Research on Carbon Emission Calculation Standards and Emission Reduction Paths for Steel Structure Products", and Dr. Li Tianxiang, Director of the Product Center of Hangzhou Tiemu Xinke Engineering Design Co., Ltd., presented a report on "Discussion on the Measurement and Calculation of Whole Life Carbon Emission of Steel Structures Based on the Industrial Internet".
On behalf of the preparation team, Dr. Zhang Zeyu, Deputy Secretary General of the Housing Construction Branch of the Association, reported on the preparation outline of the standard, including its background, content, and overall arrangement. The participating experts jointly discussed the standard content and task division, and proposed suggestions and suggestions for the preparation of the standard.
The association group standard "Carbon Emission Calculation Standard for Steel Structure Buildings" is mainly aimed at establishing a carbon emission accounting model based on the full life cycle for steel structure buildings, focusing on research and analysis of carbon emissions in the physicochemical stage and the demolition and recovery stage that embody the characteristics of steel structures, and providing a rapid estimation formula for carbon emissions of steel structures based on a large amount of research data, which is convenient for the majority of steel structure practitioners to use. At the same time, the standard will provide the carbon emission factors of commonly used steel for construction based on the current situation of steel production, and focus on analyzing the carbon emission calculation in the factory manufacturing process to achieve the delivery of steel products with carbon labels, providing technical support for steel component related export enterprises.
